Creating a wildlife-friendly pond in your garden
Our speaker Deb says “It is relatively easy to construct a wildlife pond in a garden. The ponds can be very small or as big as you like, are pretty cheap to build and attract wildlife to your garden. Importantly, they can also be made child-safe without ruining access for the garden birds and creatures, which will be uppermost in the mind of those with children or grandchildren.”
Deb will be showing us photos of how she constructed the pond in her garden – and perhaps more importantly, of the final result, showing the mature pond and the wildlife that it attracts. She will also talk us through the various options available, including the use of solar powered components for extra “green” credentials.
Deb started gardening ‘by accident’, when she needed to find work and discovered that where she was living ‘people were always looking for help in the garden’. Starting off undertaking basic garden maintenance, Deb then moved on to establish a full design-and-build service, with landscaping and full planting services.
She adds “The ponds just arrived after that and since then they have become increasingly popular.”
